Softening a Hardened Heart...

"If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit" (Galatians 5:25), and this is what it means to walk in the Spirit: to take one step at a time, and for every new situation into which every new step takes you, no matter what it may be, to hear Christ saying to your heart, "I AM," then to look up into His face by faith and say, "You are! That is all I need to know, Lord, and I thank you, for You are never less than adequate."
"The LORD is the strength of my life" -
Psalms 27:1

[The Indwelling Life of Christ, Major W. Ian Thomas]

"So we see that they were not able to enter His rest because of unbelief." - Hebrews 3:19
"Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts"
- Hebrews 4:7
"Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience." - Hebrews 4:11

"My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:1-6

Ice Cream Road Trip

I think life gets busy enough, and with schoolwork on top - it seems its pushing everyone over the edge. Well maybe not everyone, definitely me and a few others though. Even in the moments of being overwhelmed, it takes that extra jump to know that God will be faithful even through the mounds of homework.

For a study break on the weekend, Candace, Han, Kris, Billy and I, piled into Nathan's truck for an icecream run to the states. It makes me laugh to think we're so close to the border, that we can just go over for icecream. And man...amazing icecream it was! The moment I took my first lick, I knew the break from my books was oh so worth it. One of the best parts is that the ice cream is so cheap! Edaleen Dairy makes and packages all their stuff themselves, so the prices are outrageously awesome. It also made it even better because we had coupons on the back our of school sports game tickets.

Thus we were thrilled! Han and I used our coupon to get two double scoop waffle cones, for the wonderful price of $1.70 (american). The boys used their coupons all for themselves and got themselves each two double scoop cones for a $1. Candace got two bowls of icecream, and then we all loaded up on ice cream containers...I picked fudgey wudgey....mmm mmm so good!

Candace, Nathan and Hannah enjoying some sweetness.

Billy and Kris, stoked about their $1 icecream.

Hanbanan and I taking a lick.

Moral of the story: there's always time for an icecream break, especially when it's so good.

An Update on the Life of Jennifer Jacobson

The past week and a half has been really busy, and feels like we've already been at school for a month. It's been hard once again settling back into the routine of things, but it's had its good times as well.

The unusual BC weather we've been getting has been quite fun, and we've made use of the snow as much as we can. Hannah and I have often come back to our room feeling like frozen ice cubes after playing in it for so long.

Sadly, one of our lovely dorm gals decided to leave for second semester and go travelling in Thailand with a buddy of hers. We had a little goodbye party for her before Christmas, and a second little gathering as she left last week. We'll definitely miss having Cheryl around, one of those girls who brightens up any event.

Last weekend, I had a blast hanging out with the Macaulay clan for a bit, swimming, eating, and a movie and dessert date with Tracy. It was nice getting off campus for a while with them.

Also, since it's had been below zero for so many days, our school pond froze over. My parents probably wouldn't be too thrilled knowing we went on it and 'skated' around (I didn't have skates unlike a few others), but man - it was awesome! Just playing tag and sliding around underneath the stars with some friends was such a blast!

Last night we also had a swell dorm meeting. We tag-teamed with the dorm next to us and had a cookie baking extravaganza. We got into teams and played an intense baking game. With teams of 6, each person had a different job. One person sees the recipe and draws out the measurements and ingredients without using words, another interprets the picture and tells an actor who then acts out the amount of ingredients. Another person interprets the acting and tells someone else who grabs the ingredients, and gives it to the baker. But the baker has a blindfold on and can't see what their doing, what they're using, how to measure. So they have to ask the ingredient go-getter, who can only answer with 'uh huh' (yes) and 'na uh' (no). Needless to say, our team was amazing and our cookies turned out super tastey, so we took the championship.

Now for the schoolwork aspect of things, life looks like it might be a bit busy for a while. I'm considering dropping a course, which might ease of the stress a bit. I'm not overly excited about any of my classes, but I think (I hope) once we get into them a bit more, I'll get some interest.

Exciting News!!
Cassie and Terri are coming out in less than a month for a visit, I'm so stoked to see those girls! The countdown to our gongshow visit has begun!

"But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called 'Today', so that none of you will be hardened by the decietfulness of sin." - Hebrews 3:13

Back at School

The holiday is all finished up and I've safely returned to Trinity. Crazy how times flies, I'm not completely ready to jump back into school, but it's nice to see some friendly faces again.

Anyhoo, I recently remembered how much I love this dance scene from Kronk's New Groove, and I was able to find the video. Hope it makes you laugh just as much as it does for me...maybe one day I'll have the whole dance down. Until then...

The Christmas Holiday!

It's been a whirlwind of fun during this special season so far. Sadly, it is coming close to the end, but it has been pretty awesome.
I got home on the 12th, always good to be home and relax. A few days later, I was greatly excited to have some snow arrive along with the quite anticipated arrival of Jeff and Antonia. Their fight was a little delayed, so I had a little fun in the airport, met up with Santa and checked out mom's new office.

Dad and I continued on in our tradition of tree hunting, and I think we came out victorious again this year. It took us a while to find a good tree, I have to admit I was a little unsure of it even after we picked it - but it looked awesome after it was all decorated.

It's been so nice to hang out with family and friends. Scotty took Jeff, Antonia and I out shooting one day which was pretty sweet. Scott and Jeff both have pretty good shots, so I was fairly impressed.
Mike and Joel came out for a little less than a week to hang out, snowboard and do some sweet fun stuff on this island (even walking a dog). It was awesome having them out for the visit. We had some fun going up the mountain to tobogan and tube with a good sized crew of people, watching movies, relaxing, star gazing at the beach, and just hanging out. Time always flies by quick, but it was a blast.

And thus, New Years snuck up out of no where. Han and I were feeling fairly laid back on the big night, so we hung out at the Mansell's youth group party for a while and then bummed at my house for the turn into 2007. We watched a good brainless chickflick and had some good laughs. Crazy to think that we are starting into a brand new year. Exciting because you don't know what will come about, but I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen and what the Lord is going to do in my life, and the lives of those around me. Looking back throughout this last year, it's been rad to see His faithfulness in my life, in relationships, summer work, school, decisions, as well as the lives of people like my mom and providing her with a sweet new job. He is good!

My prayer for this new year, is that I will learn to really love people with the heart of Jesus, and that my relationship with Him will continue to grow deeper.
"You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal." (Isaiah 26:3-4)
I hope we will cling to His character, for He is good and trustworthy. I'm sure there will be many bumps along the way this year, but He is the solid Rock and foundation, and in that we have perfect peace. Happy 2007
